The Northern Rivers Catchment Management area includes the catchments of the Tweed, Brunswick and Richmond Rivers. The Northern Rivers region embraces six Local Government Areas.

Major towns include Ballina, Byron Bay, Casino, Evans Head, Kyogle, Lismore, and Tweed Heads.
